In addition to the usual functions of any Masonic Lodge, our mission is to provide a friendly and hospitable Masonic environment for South African Freemasons in London. Our Lodge customs and practices are similar to those of Lodges in South Africa.
All visitors are particularly welcome, especially visiting Brethren from South Africa. South African brethren visiting England, or resident in this Country, usually find it difficult to visit English Lodges. You can’t simply arrive at a meeting and expect to be welcomed, as is the case in South Africa. Normally you would be invited by a member, as his guest, and he then assumes the responsibility for paying your Dining Fee. This may cause some difficulty for an unknown brother on holiday in England as Lodge members may be reluctant to sponsor the Dining Fee.
South Africa Lodge adopts the South African system. We welcome you as a visiting brother, and you are cordially invited to attend our Festive Board provided you pay your own Dining Fee. We would however ask you to bear in mind that we are a Dining Lodge so to facilitate catering arrangements you do need to contact the Secretary to book a meal at least five days in advance. Please see our VISITORS page which details how to find us, and how to book a meal for our Festive Board.
If you are a South African Freemason visiting the UK, or resident here, and would like to attend a Lodge meeting where you will feel right at home — and afterwards attend our Festive Board where you can discuss Springbok Rugby or Proteas Cricket, or other South African topics — then why not visit South Africa Lodge? We would love to meet you.
